We consider lay involvement in the life and work of our church as vital. Regular responsibilities taken on by laity include: administering the chalice at the Eucharist, Bible readings, delivering the announcements, intercessions, welcoming stewards, leading the Sunday School, serving refreshments after services, and organising social and fund raising events.
Music plays an important part of our praise of God. We normally sing four or five hymns during our Sunday Service, using Complete Anglican Hymns Old and New. The Weighton Waytes choir, although not specifically a church choir, practice weekly in church and often enhance our festival services with their beautiful singing. Formed almost ten years ago, the Waytes attract members from a wide area and have been invited to sing in an increasing number of concerts in the surrounding towns and villages. We also boast a long tradition of bell ringing. The tower houses a full peal of eight bells rung regularly on Sundays and festivals. The bell ringing team have also won many competitions. We also have a team of hand bell ringers, who give concerts with other musicians, usually twice a year.
